For Students
Computer and Internet access is available to students in District 39
schools. The Internet is a network of networks connecting millions of
computer users all over the world. The Internet enables worldwide
connection to, data bases, software, and other information sources, such
as libraries and museums. District 39 provides Internet access to
promote educational excellence in member schools by facilitating
resource sharing, innovation, and communication.
The smooth operation of the network relies upon the proper conduct of
the end users who must adhere to strict guidelines. These guidelines
are provided here so that you are aware of the responsibilities you are
about to acquire. If a District 39 user violates any of these
provisions, his or her account will be terminated and future access can
be denied. The signature(s) at the end of this document is (are) legally
binding and indicates the party (parties) who signed read the terms and
conditions carefully and understand(s) their significance.
Risk
It is impossible to control all materials on the Internet. Sites
accessible via the Internet may contain material that is illegal,
defamatory, obscene, inaccurate or controversial. With global access to
computers and people, there is a risk that students may access material
that may not be considered to be of educational value in the context of
the school setting.
Users' responsiblities
Internet users, like traditional library users, are responsible for their actions in accessing available resources.
INTERNET TERMS AND CONDITIONS
An Internet account will be issued only upon receipt of a signed copy of this agreement.
Authorized Use
The use of your account must be in support of education and research.

Use of a personal District 39 Internet account is a privilege, not a right.

Use of a personal District 39 Internet account is voluntary on the part of the student.

- Use only acceptable appropriate language. Avoid offensive or inflammatory speech.
- Use real name in all communications. Impersonation, anonymity, or pseudonyms are not permitted.
- Note that all electronic mail (email) is not guaranteed to be
private. Individuals who operate the system will have access to all
mail. Messages relating to or in furtherance of illegal activities will
be reported to the authorities.

event should occur, District 39 will fully comply with the authorities
to provide any information necessary for the litigation process.

computer viruses. Sending unsolicited junk mail or chain letters, is
prohibited. Any interference with the work of other users, with or

Security
Security on any computer system is a high priority, especially when
the system involves many users. If you feel you can identify a security
problem on the Internet, you must notify your building principal. Do not
demonstrate the problem to other users. Do not use another individual’s
account at any time. Attempts to log on to the Internet as a system
administrator will result in cancellation of user privileges. Any user
identified as a security risk or having a history of problems with other
computer systems may be denied access to Internet.
